This single-cask bottling of a 7-year-old Tayovulin Islay single malt (Lagavulin?) was produced by the independent bottler TnT Casks Winsen. The whisky was distilled in 2018, matured in an ex-bourbon hogshead, finished in a first-fill ex-Marsala quarter cask, and bottled in 2025 in a run of 146 bottles.
Islay is the most famous of the Scotch whisky islands. It is often referred to as the queen among them. The majority of Islay's single malts have a wonderfully peaty, smoky, strong flavour - flavours for which Islay whisky is so loved.
Scotland and Scotch whisky is a global trend, a development that has led to a flourishing whisky scene in Scotland. There is hardly a week that goes by in which there is no news about another new distillery being built or the reopening of a distillery that has been closed for a long time.
Scotland, together with Ireland, is today considered the motherland of whisky, whose roots there go back to around 1500 AD.
