The Pradlo distillery is located in Pradlo, near Pilsen, in the western Czech Republic, and its history dates back to 1924. The distillery began producing whisky in 1976, but it was not until 1989 that a larger quantity was produced, which was marketed under the Hammerhead name from 2009. Since 2010, the whisky has been produced and marketed under the name Pradlo.
As of 2017, there are already more than 150 distilleries in Germany producing German whisky. Most distilleries produce clear brandies and use whisky production as a niche and side business. Whisky output is at a very low level of sometimes only a few thousand bottles a year depending on the distillery.
