This bottling of a 5-year-old Franconian single malt, named Old Owl, was produced by Kauzen Bräu in Ochsenfurt. The whisky was distilled in 2015, matured in ex-wine casks, and bottled at cask strength in 2020 in a run of 60 individually numbered bottles.
As of 2017, there are already more than 150 distilleries in Germany producing German whisky. Most distilleries produce clear brandies and use whisky production as a niche and side business.
