This single-cask bottling of an Eifel whisky, the EF-SM Edition 2015S, was distilled in 2009, matured for three years each in an ex-Chardonnay cask and an ex-cream sherry cask, and was bottled in 2021 in a run of 675 bottles.
As of 2017, there are already more than 150 distilleries in Germany producing German whisky. Most distilleries produce clear brandies and use whisky production as a niche and side business. Whisky output is at a very low level of sometimes only a few thousand bottles a year depending on the distillery.
