This single-cask bottling of a 5-year-old Caol Ila single malt was produced by the independent bottler Douglas Laing & Co. as part of the Provenance range. The whisky was distilled in 2011, matured in a refill hogshead and bottled in 2016 in a run of 328 bottles.
Caol Ila means Sound of Islay and derives from the location of the distillery directly on the strait. Founded in 1846 and renovated from the ground up in 1974, it produces a mid-range Islay whisky.
