This bottling of an 8-year-old Aureum 1865 Single Malt, an original distillery bottling, was produced as the Classic Edition / Stylish – the Elegant. The whisky was matured in three different types of cask, finished in ex-bourbon casks, and bottled in 2020.
Aureum 1865 is a brand of the Ziegler distillery from Freudenberg am Main, where finest noble distillates have been distilled for more than 150 years. The first single malt whisky was presented at the beginning of 2010.
As of 2017, there are already more than 150 distilleries in Germany producing German whisky. Most distilleries produce clear brandies and use whisky production as a niche and side business. Whisky output is at a very low level of sometimes only a few thousand bottles a year depending on the distillery.
