This bottling of a Slyrs Single Malt, an official distillery release, was produced especially for the Zugspitzbahn. The whisky was distilled in 2020, finished in an ex-Amarone cask, and bottled in 2024 in a run of 192 individually numbered bottles.
As of 2017, there are already more than 150 distilleries in Germany producing German whisky. Most distilleries produce clear brandies and use whisky production as a niche and side business. Whisky output is at a very low level of sometimes only a few thousand bottles a year depending on the distillery.
