This single cask bottling of a 12-year-old Caol Ila was produced by the independent bottler Sansibar Whisky as JD's Personal Choice No.3. The whisky was distilled in 2008, matured in an ex-bourbon cask and was bottled at cask strength in 2021 with 330 bottles.
Caol Ila means Sound of Islay and derives from the location of the distillery directly on the strait. Founded in 1846 and renovated from the ground up in 1974, it produces a mid-range Islay whisky.
