This bottling of a 17-year-old Glen Scotia was produced by independent bottler Murray McDavid in the Mission Gold series. The whisky was distilled in 1991, matured in ex-bourbon casks and received a finish in ex-port wine casks before being bottled at cask strength in 2009.

In its heyday there were said to have been 20-30 distilleries, but since the 1920s the number has declined so that today only Glen Scotia and Springbank (with Longrow and Hazelburn, both names of defunct distilleries) remain.
