This single cask bottling of a 30-year-old Ben Nevis single malt was produced by Roslin Distillers Ltd / A.W. (Colin) Ross, Colin Ross acquired this cask in 1991 as manager of the distillery and gave it to his wife Roswitha. The whisky was distilled in 1991, matured in a refill barrel and was bottled at cask strength in 2021 with 142 individually numbered bottles.
The distillery is located in Fort Williams, directly at the foot of Scotlands highest mountain, Ben Nevis. Founded in 1825 by the famous John Macdonald, it had a chequered history until its closure in 1986. Since 1989, the distillery has belonged to Nikka and is producing again.
Scotland and Scotch whisky is a global trend, a development that has led to a flourishing whisky scene in Scotland. There is hardly a week that goes by in which there is no news about another new distillery being built or the reopening of a distillery that has been closed for a long time.
Scotland, together with Ireland, is today considered the motherland of whisky, whose roots there go back to around 1500 AD.
