The Mönchguter Hofbrennerei Zur Strandburg is a family business in Alt Reddevitz on the island of Rügen, which has also been producing whisky since 2007.
As of 2017, there are already more than 150 distilleries in Germany producing German whisky. Most distilleries produce clear brandies and use whisky production as a niche and side business.
